One of the thing I do not like having happen is when I go on a service call is charging
someone for something that they could have fixed themselves very easily.
The very first thing a homeowner should do if their Air Conditioning System does not seem to
working properly is Check To See What is Coming On or not Coming On at the thermostat.
Billing people for tripped breakers is not fun for us or the customer, and we try to avoid it by asking about it before we
dispatch a technician to the residence.
If you notice water on the floor or a stain on the ceiling around your air handler chances are your drain line is clogged up.
Shut Off Your A/C
Before you get out your wet/dry vacumme and clear the drain, just go to the outdoor machine and check for ice on the copper lines.
If there is ice check your filter if they are clean call us or your local A/C service company.
If there is no ice, hook your wet/dry vacumme up to the drain line outside and clear everything out of the drain line; turn the A/C
system on and wait 30 minutes or less, to see if the water drains out of the drain line. If it has been over 30 minutes
and no water has come out of the drain line, call us or your local A/C service company.
If your A/C system is not running at all, it may be your float switch keeping the system off.
If you have a float switch installed in your A/C system, when the drain line cloggs up the float switch is designed to shut off the A/C
and prevent damage from the water overflowing into the house.
If you can see your Air Handling Unit and there is no float switch installed, call us or your local A/C company to install a float switch.
It may save your house from severe damage, by shutting everything down before the water overflows.
